A Rare Encounter Between French Elegance and Indian Fire
Behind shuttered colonial windows, where the scent of old wood mingles with spice, a forgotten mansion awakens to host a tasting ritual never seen before.
Champagne & Chutneys is an intimate culinary journey that pairs vintage French champagnes with handcrafted Indian chutneys - each a symphony of acidity, sweetness, and heat, rooted in royal kitchens and ancestral home recipes.
Set in a 19th-century French-colonial estate in the heart of old Pondicherry or Chandannagar, the evening unfolds across candlelit courtyards, antique salons, and a secret cellar. A Franco-Indian culinary historian and champagne sommelier lead this sensual experience, weaving stories of love, exile, and revolution between each effervescent pour and fiery bite.
Highlights Include:
A private colonial mansion setting restored for one night only.
Pairings of 6 vintage champagnes with rare, regionally-sourced Indian chutneys.
Story-led tasting by a Franco-Indian culinary historian and certified champagne expert.
A “Perfume of Flavour” interlude exploring the olfactory intersections of spice and grape.
A finale under the stars with live French-Indian fusion music and saffron-infused desserts.
Expect a progressive tasting that marries centuries—Napoleonic vintages with East Indian lime preserve, mango-ginger relish with grower rosé, fig and tamarind chutney with a bold Grand Cru. Accompanied by poetic interludes, French jazz with Indian classical undertones, and incense-laced air, this soirée is a forbidden feast for those who savour the extraordinary.
Where the sparkle of Reims meets the spice of Rajasthan, a new palate of luxury is born.
